Hey there! A little about me...
Back in 2007 as I got ready to go to college as an undecided business major, a couple of close friends suggested that I check out graphic design. A few months into college, I switched majors and the rest is histo- ok, ok, not really.
After studying abroad in Dublin, I graduated from Champlain College in 2011 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design and Digital Media.
Graduating into the height of the Recession led me to double down on what I’d learned in college about typography, branding and design history. I also thought that this would be a great time to turn that knowledge to the web.
I designed my first website in Wordpress, teaching the platform to myself as I built a custom theme for the bike shop I was also employed at. The way I figured, by knowing what it takes to build a site, I’d have the knowledge to properly design a site.
While working for one of the largest agencies in CT, I pioneered HTML5 banner creation as Flash died using the Greensock Javascript library. Living on the bleeding edge of the web design, it’s been extremely exciting to see elements go from not being supported by browsers to being supported everywhere. Even in Edge!
These days, I have a blast pushing websites past the norm, using bright colors and bold typography. I love creating a brand’s essence and seeing that through while having it work well in all mediums. Creating cohesive, branded campaigns is also a blast. I do a lot of rapid prototyping that are clickable after creating sitemaps and wireframes.
I balance out all of the screen time by spending a lot of time behind bars. Handlebars, on a bike, that is. Blasting through the woods, clearing that line, is what keeps me sane and grounded. It translates well to the work that I love to do. Trying new things and pushing the envelope really keeps things fun.
Thanks for making it this far, here’s a cool photo from Killington. Vermont sucks, tell your friends.
